Beyond Code

Things that keep me curious outside software.

Competitive Games

I enjoy competitive games where improvement comes from practice, analysis, and experimentation. Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time playing Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Quake Live, and more recently Deadlock. What keeps these games interesting to me is the process of gradually improving — learning maps, refining mechanics, perfecting execution and understanding the system you're playing in.

Game Design & Systems

Some of my favorite games are the ones that experiment with narrative or philosophical ideas. Titles like NieR Replicant, NieR: Automata, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Deus Ex, The Talos Principle, and Death Stranding left a strong impression on me. I’m also fascinated by how games are designed behind the scenes. I enjoy watching long-form retrospectives and design breakdowns that explore how systems, mechanics, and storytelling interact. Channels like Majuular and YourFavoriteSon do a great job diving into that side of game development.

Technology & Hardware

Outside of software development, I enjoy keeping up with developments in PC hardware and new technology.

I started building PCs with my dad when I was younger, which is probably where my interest in computers really began. Since then I’ve always enjoyed following how the hardware landscape evolves and seeing what new ideas appear each generation.

When I’m not at a keyboard I lift regularly to balance out the many hours spent at a desk. And of course, I spend time with my cat, Edwige.
